The Rainbow Orchid Volume 1

Garen Ewing
Garen Ewing

"The Rainbow Orchid" is an ambitious blend of classic storytelling and cinematic artwork in which adventure, historical drama and legend are seamlessly intertwined. In Volume One, follow the story's hero, Julius Chancer, as he embarks on a hazardous quest for the rainbow orchid - a mythical flower last mentioned by the ancient Greek philosopher, Theophrastus, and steeped in legend. His epic journey takes him from 1920s Britain to the Indian subcontinent and its mysterious lost valleys.

Regular readers of our blog will already be familiar with Garen's work, from online versions of the splendid Rainbow Orchid to his work for the DFC comic. The story is a wonderful, all-ages adventure yarn, drawn in the 'clear line' style made famous by Herge with Tintin and fits that Tintin mould of cracking adventure and highly enjoyable characters perfectly. Highly recommended. You can read an interview Matthew Badham conducted with Garen over on our blog here.
