Judge Dredd: the Complete Case Files Volume 6

John Wagner

In Mega-City One the Judges rule with an iron fist, most notorious of these is Judge Dredd. Dredd is judge, jury and executioner and these books collect together all of his early cases from the very first episode. Book six contains some of the best writing and art from the UK comics scene including work from John Wagner (A History of Violence) and comic book legend Carlos Ezquerra as well as Ron Smith and Steve 'Preacher' Dillon among others and covers Progs 271 to 321. This volume includes such classics as The Stupid Gun and the post atomic war struggles of the Judges to bring order back to the shattered MC-1 in Shanty Town and the first appearance of the League of Fatties (only in 2000AD!) as well as the return of Owen Krysler, the Judge Child; brilliant stuff.

This is shaping up to be a fantastic series – I’m grabbing a copy of every volume for my own shelves and they are building into a real history of Dredd library. Similar to Marvel’s Essentials or DC’s Showcase Presents series, these offer classic tales in black and white in a real value-for-money collection, with the series reprinting every Judge Dredd strip, the small and the epic multi-part tales, in chronological order. Cracking comics, a slice of unmissable British comics history, brilliant art, and biting satire – remind yourself why JD is the biggest British comics character of all time.

This sixth volume of the Judge Dredd: the Complete Case Files includes work from great 2000AD artists including Ron Smith, John Cooper, Steve Dillon, Carlos Ezquerra, and Jose Casanovas with writing from the legendary pens of Alan Grant and John Wagner.
