Following the Atom Wars in
the 22nd century, many of the survivors were mutated by the
Strontium 90 fallout. Unable to get regular jobs, forced into ghettoes and
considered an underclass by the ‘norms’, the only work open to them was bounty
hunting. These Search Destroy Agents – or Strontium Dogs – hunt the criminals too
dangerous for the Galactic Crime Commission.
One such S/D Agent is Johnny
Alpha, whose eyes enable him to see through solid objects. Book 2 collects
together such classic stories as ‘Outlaw’ and ‘The Moses Incident’. This also covers young Johnny's outing as a mutant in intolerant New Britain and the struggle of the New Mutant Army to resist extermination by cruel norms - including Johnny's own father. With the
huge success of the Complete Judge Dredd Case Files Rebellion
has launched a similar range collecting all of Johnny Alpha’s tales in
chronological order, from the early days in Starlord (in book 1) through to 2000AD; Alpha became
almost as popular as Judge Dredd himself over the years and rightly so. Another
must-have for the British comics library on your shelves; brilliant stuff and going right into my own collection.
