Tired of books which side-step a popular strand of SF, the technological Singularity, Stross decided to explore the furious drive of scientific advancement and its effects on society by following three generations of a family, each of which brings a new meaning to the term 'generation gap' because they are almost different species.

It's big concept stuff, brimming with intelligent takes on possible future roads humanity may take - willingly or otherwise. Originally a series of novellas serialised in journals the Accelerando stories garnered ridiculous amounts of award nominations - see, we told you he was good! Stross wass nominated in no less than three Hugo categories for 2005 and won one (his first but not his last I reckon)
