Arthur C Clarke Awards

The Arthur C Clarke Awards and the British Science Fiction Association Awards (BSFA) are the pre-eminent awards in the British SF literary scene, with the Clarke awards chosen by a jury and the BSFA award selected by their members. Since both are looking at Science Fiction and Fantasy (SF&F as we say) from the previous year’s publications in the UK it is common for there to be a fair bit of overlap between their respective shortlists, with this year being no exception. Last years the Clarke was won by China Miéville for Iron Council and the BSFA novel award went to Ian McDonald for River of Gods.
