Nominations are now open for the 2nd annual British Comic Awards, celebrating the very best in this wonderful world of British Comics that we have the pleasure of writing about every day.

You can find all the details you need at the BCA website, but just a quick reminder about the awards and how they work.

Just as last year there are five awards, keeping it simple and streamlined. The awards are Best Comic, Best Book, Emerging Talent, Hall Of Fame and Young People’s Comic Award.

The Young People’s Comic Award is judged by young people from schools and public libraries around the country (open to works published between 1st Aug 2012 and 31st July 2013 to accommodate the school year).  The Best Comic, Best Book, and Emerging Talent awards are decided by the BCA Judges (open to works published between 1st September 2012 and 31st August 2013).

YOU can get involved by nominating eligible works for consideration by the BCA Committee. There’s a form at the BCA website, but please remember that this is not a ‘most votes wins’ thing. The nominations are a way to bring your favourite comics to the attention of the BCA Committee, who choose a nomination shortlist to pass to the Judging panel. You only need to nominate a title once to make us aware of it.

The British Comic Awards 2013 will take place at this year’s Thought Bubble festival in Leeds:
