Strip Magazine goes news stand…
Strip magazine gets to its 7th issue in May, and gets onto the news stands at the same time, possibly with that cover above by Giancarlo Caracuzzo.
According to the Strip Magazine blog the news stand deal wont see Strip on the shelves of your local supermarket, but instead…
“The initial plan for the title’s new stand presence is to target a selected range of top high street stores, but not supermarkets at this time.”
I imagine that means WHSmiths and other big stores of the same ilk. And starting out with that cautious approach to news stand distribution makes sense, as a massive news stand distribution model can see returns of unsold issues that can cripple a new, smaller publisher practically before they’ve begun.
The distribution to news stands, with the extra costs it entails probably accounts for the mention of an increased cover price as well.
So all luck to Strip Magazine, it’s good to see another regular Brit comic being available on the newsagent’s shelves.
Meanwhile, issue 4 of Strip Magazine will be on the shelves of your local comic shop soon – terrible weather in Bosnia has delayed it, but it’s reported as being en route.
Strips in issue 4 include: Warpaint (Phil Hester and John McCrea), Age Of Heroes (James Hudnall and John Ridgway), The Devil’s Heritage (Jerome Felix and Paul Gastine), Black Ops Extreme (John Freeman and PJ Holden), and Slayer Keith (David Hailwood, Stu Smith and Dave Thomson). Plus more Hook jaw, Cosmic Patrol, and Bogey-Man Bob.
